About us

Our Association of the Friends of Zurich Opera has been in existence for more than 50 years. Its purpose is to promote the understanding and enjoyment of opera and ballet, and it enables its approximately 1,300 members to maintain direct links with the Opera House. It also supports the efforts of those involved in the creation and performance of opera. The Friends of Zurich Opera promote the International Opera Studio (IOS), a training programme for talented young singers from all over the world. The annual Opera Ball is also held under the auspices of the Friends of Zurich Opera.

As a member of the Friends of Zurich Opera, in return for your commitment you enjoy special privileges and are given a glimpse behind the scenes at the Opera House. For example, you have the opportunity to attend rehearsals that are not open to the public, as well as priority access to tickets via your own hotline. As well as events such as backstage tours and an advance presentation of the programme by the Director of the Opera House, you will also be offered special concerts by the IOS. Depending on your membership category, you will enjoy further special benefits.

Our Association cooperates closely with the new management of the Opera House and is working on expanding the range of services available to our members. The management will be delighted if you support the Opera House with us as friends, conceptually and financially, thus demonstrating your solidarity with Zurich Opera.
