Opera Ball 2016
Saturday, March 4th 2017, 6pm
Every year, one of Switzerland’s most glamorous balls is given under the patronage of the Friends of Zurich Opera: the Zurich Opera Ball. As a dinner guest, you will savour a gala dinner created by the Hotel Baur au Lac before the dinner is traditionally opened by the debutantes . Artistic contributions from opera stars, Zurich Ballet and the Philharmonia Zurich will ensure that there are plenty of touching and exhilarating highlights. Thereafter, you will have the opportunity to take over the dance floor yourself – be it dancing a classical waltz on the main stage, shaking to Latin American sounds in the Bernhard Theater, or to the funky beat in the disco on the Studio Stage. You will find refreshment and relaxation in various bars and lounges throughout the building, before the top act sets pulses racing again on the main stage at midnight. All proceeds of this fundraising gala will be donated to Zurich Opera House’s educational programmes for children and young people.
Saturday, 4th March 2017, 6 pm
Ball ticket incl. dinner and drinks: CHF 95O, Promenade ticket: CHF 29O

Opera – free open-air screening
Under the motto Opera for All, this season you are also invited to experience the live broadcast of an opera performance on a large screen in a summery, festival atmosphere. Be there when Sechseläutenplatz is transformed into a giant open-air theatre, and enjoy an opera performance free of charge. Come with your friends and family, bring folding chairs, rugs and a picnic, or savour the delicacies available on site. After a successful launch, with approximately 10,000 visitors in the summer of 2014, (Rigoletto) and other live screenings in 2015 (Aida) and 2016 (Pique Dame), Zurich Opera House and Zurich Insurance will continue the Opera for All series with David Pountney’s production of Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera. For the role of Gustavo, we were able to engage the Argentinian tenor Marcelo Álvarez, and George Petean will sing the role of Renato. Amelia will be performed by the American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky, and General Music Director Fabio Luisi will be at the rostrum.
