Junior Ballett

Abstract

William Shakespeare tells a story of love and transformation in his comedy "A Midsummer Night’s Dream". He interweaves the paths and misdirections of Eros across several narrative strands so intricately that confusions, misunderstandings and irresistibly comic scenes inevitably arise. Zurich Ballet Director Cathy Marston and designer Richard Hudson set their "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" on an ageing, abandoned fairground. A striking counterpoint to the famous incidental music by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy is provided by the "Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra No. 1" by Gabriel Prokofjew. Robert Houssart conducts the Orchestra of the Zurich Opera House, with expert support from the renowned British DJ Mr. Switch.
