Workshop «Under the moon of Alabama»

Workshop series for young adults 16 years and older

Choral Workshop
October 2020 to June 2021

Many pop, punk, and rock stars like David Bowie, The Doors, Nina Hagen, Die Toten Hosen, or Marilyn Manson have already taken a stab at interpreting the Alabama Song from the opera «Mahagonny» or «Mackie Messer» and «Seeräuber Jenny» from the «Dreigroschenoper».

In this series of workshops, we will study songs from the incredibly varied repertoire of Kurt Weill, a composer who felt at home in a number of different musical genres. We will work in smaller ensembles and as soloists, as we perform these pieces scenically. We’ll try out various vocal and theatrical possibilities as we develop a piece together that will ultimately be performed on a rehearsal stage at the Opernhaus. For this workshop, the creative process is much more important than perfection. And in addition to experiment with the voice and body, we will also attend a revival rehearsal of the Mahagonny production and attend a performance together.

Workshop series including a performance ticket: CHF 40 (for participants up to 30 years of age)
