O Schreck - ein Schwein!

Petrushka is a puppet of the Russian puppet theater - a funny guy with a long nose and a red hat who always comes up with naughty pranks and experiences countless adventures. This week, the participants will get to know fun and sad Petrushka episodes and by dancing doing puppet shows they’ll create their own stories with the characters.

O Schreck - ein Schwein!

Who doesn’t long for a place where there is no sorrow. We wish for friends who accompany us and take on dangerous adventures. In the second week of the holidays we meet Dorothy, her dog Toto and their friends; the scarecrow, the tin man and the lion. We will find out what makes a good friend and will learn about the magic of theater. Enchanting music will of course not be missing!

With Ronja and Birk in the fabulous Sihlwald 17/18

FOR 8- TO 12-YEAR-OLDS

The robber children Ronja and Birk are like sister and brother, but their parents, who are enemies, are opposed to their deep friendship, so the pair move into the bears’ cave in the Mattis Forest and spend an adventurous summer in harmony with nature. Just like these two friends, in the first week of the autumn holiday, we shall experience many an adventure and discover the wild Sihlwald Forest with its gigantic, 200-year-old trees. Here we shall endure tests of our courage, scale the Schnabelburg Castle, encounter wild beasts and fabulous forest dwellers. We shall find out what else can be fun in the forest, sharpen our senses and investigate the sounds of the wilderness as well as the strains of our family opera.

Raised to life 17/18

FOR 7- TO 10-YEAR-OLDS

At night, when all the children are asleep, their toys come to life in the nursery. Tin figures turn into strapping soldiers, porcelain dolls become beautiful fairies, and even the wooden nutcracker comes to life. They travel to distant dream worlds and have to survive difficult adventures – at least, that is how the story goes in the ballet Nussknacker und Mausekönig (Nutcracker and Mouse King). During this autumn holiday course, children will try to shed light on the secrets and stories behind objects. Behind the thick walls of the Swiss National Museum there are many objects to be discovered as well as their stories, and even more fantastic stories to be invented. They will come to life in drawings, texts, games and dancing.

Musiktheaterpädagogik

Zurich Opera House aims to kindle young people’s enthusiasm for opera and ballet. Our offers are directed at all age groups ranging from children of pre-school and primary school age to young adults, and make these art forms and selected works accessible, appropriately to these age groups. We take our guests on themed tours behind the scenes at the Opera House and provide insights into the way we work and our artistic processes. At thematically structured workshops with an immediate relevance to practical implementation, we intensify these impressions and make work at the theatre come alive. We intend to raise awareness of the quality of art and stimulate children and young people to discover their own creativity. We seek a dialogue with young audiences and give them the opportunity to engage with art in an active way.
