Abstract
Featuring the rich tonal colours of a sextet, this chamber concert brings together works by composers who have sometimes been unjustly overshadowed in the repertoire. Ludwig Thuille was a friend and mentor of Richard Strauss and created an important contribution to the genre with his sonorous and spirited Sextet in B-flat major. In his Divertimento of 1913, Russian-Swiss composer Paul Juon combines dance-like lightness with rhythmic sophistication. The sextet by Dresden-born Theodor Blumer is characterised by playful exuberance and warmth of sound.
