Abstract
Zurich Opera House organises a Children’s Opera Orchestra in close collaboration with all 35 music schools in the Canton of Zurich, thereby supporting the valuable work of the music schools. Around 80 talented instrumentalists between the ages of 8 and 14 are given the opportunity to broaden their musical experience and meet musicians from all regions of the canton.
From September to the end of May, the young musicians further develop their skills and experience what it means to blend into an orchestral sound and become part of a greater whole together. The highlight is their performance on the stage of the Zurich Opera House: under the direction of Gianandrea Noseda and Ann-Katrin Stöcker, the Children’s Opera Orchestra performs together with soloists from the Zurich Opera House and presents excerpts from Gaetano Donizetti’s "Lʼelisir dʼamore" as well as dances by Eastern European composers.
