Workshop Series «Of Light, Wind and Waters»

Hans Christian Andersen is Denmark’s most famous author. Even 150 years after his death, his well-known fairytales are still immensely popular. Together with the Danish choreographer and director Kim Brandstrup, the Ballett Zürich will dive into Andersen’s fairytale world. Although Andersen’s stories seem to belong to the idealized, bourgeois world of Denmark, they are mostly stories about outsiders. His fairytale characters are mercilessly exposed to the forces of a harsh and forbidding natural world that rages just beyond the confines of domestic bliss.

This workshop series offers participants the opportunity to gain insights into the rehearsal process and learn more about the creation of the ballet Of Light, Wind and Waters. Dancers and assistants from the Ballett Zürich will enhance the workshop series as guests and, of course, participants will attend a performance together.
