ZURICH TALKS DANCE

Discussion Series

From 3. September 2025 until 21. June 2026

Under the title “Zurich Talks Dance”, the Ballett Zürich, the Zurich University of the Arts, the Tanz Akademie Zürich and the Tanzhaus Zürich joined forces in 2023 to offer all interested parties deeper insights into artistic, professional and also educational topics in the ballet world. Through various events, the audience gains more knowledge about the lives and work of dancers, choreographers, ballet teachers and numerous creatives in the dance world, and can get to know renowned dance professionals. With this, we aim to present the work of Ballett Zürich in a broader context and engage in dialogue with other dance professionals and dance enthusiasts. The conversations are hosted by dramaturge Michael Küster and representatives of the partner institutions.

Program for 04 Dec 2025

Under the title “Creative Clockwork”, the next edition of “Zurich Talks Dance” offers exciting insights into the creation of ballet productions. Joining Michael Küster and Jason Beechey is the French dancer THIERRY GUIDERDONI. He danced for many years at Ballett Frankfurt with William Forsythe and now stages Forsythe’s choreographies all over the world. He is currently working with Ballett Zürich on Forsythe’s “New Suite”, from which a duet will be presented. The dense and highly demanding rehearsal schedule of Ballett Zürich is organised by production manager MIKEL JAUREGUI. For the new ballet evening “Timeframed”, he currently has to bring no fewer than four pieces – including two world premieres – onto the right track in terms of rehearsal planning. Also joining is the Spanish-Swiss choreographer JAVIER RODRIGUEZ COBOS, who will talk about his collaboration with the students of the BA Contemporary Dance programme, who are performing his specially created choreography “Assemblage”.

In addition, two solos will be performed that were created for the “taz – Young Creation Award” at the “Prix de Lausanne”: “Noise in Silence” by ANASTASIIA PROSENKO HERMAN and “Bercothesis” by EMALINE OWNBY.

The event takes place at the Theater der Künste on Gessnerallee 9.
