«Music and dance are good for the soul.»

Participant of Connect

Connect is a dance project for people living with neurological challenges such as multiple sclerosis (MS) or Parkinson’s disease. The idea was initiated by Cathy Marston, Ballet Director of Ballett Zürich, whose ballet The Cellist tells the life story of Jacqueline du Pré, who suffered from MS and died at a young age.

In February 2024, Ballett Zürich, the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich, the independent performance group The Field, and the Dance & Creative Wellness Foundation launched the pilot phase of Connect. In two groups, people living with Parkinson’s or multiple sclerosis met once a week for dance training in the community hall of the Tonhalle Zürich. Selected sessions were accompanied live by musicians from the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich. We are especially pleased to welcome the Kunsthaus Zürich as a new cooperation partner: In addition to rehearsal visits at the Zurich Opera House and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich encounters with visual art will now provide new perspectives.

Due to the great demand and extremely positive feedback, Connect is to be firmly established in the Opera House's program in the 2025/26 season and dance training will be made available to as many interested people as possible.

Financially, Connect is not yet fully funded. With your support, we can make this project a reality and help improve the quality of life for people living with neurological challenges. Thank you very much!
