Abstract
In one of the season’s chamber concerts, members of the opera orchestra’s academy take the stage. The string players are featured in a quintet by Mozart, while the woodwinds, joined by the pianist, perform a sextet by the French composer Louise Farrenc. For trumpet, trombone, marimba, and double bass, the renowned Swiss jazz musician and composer Daniel Schnyder has moreover specially arranged two of his own works: “1822: Rossini’s Visit to Beethoven” and “The Iron Tetrapod,” which frame the program.
