Young choreographers

Every two seasons, the Young Choreographers present their creations on the Studio Stage. The series of the same name offers members of Ballett Zürich and the Junior Ballett interested in creating their own choreographies the opportunity to introduce themselves as choreographers. They have the challenging task of discovering dance from another perspective, benefit from mutual inspiration, and to present a joint ballet evening. The budding artists rehearse their new creations with their colleagues, and can also try their hand as set and costume designers. This frequently leads to surprising experiments, clever terpsichorean insights or sensory highlights, whose «small format» proves beneficial for the intensity and choreographic diversity of such a varied ballet evening. It is quite possible that one artist or another will be encountered in the not too distant future on a major ballet stage.

As part of Festspiele Zürich, the young choreographers will deal with the motto of the festival, «beauty and madness».
