Abstract

Finnish soprano Camilla Nylund continues to set new artistic standards, especially with her interpretations of Richard Wagner's and Richard Strauss's roles - a fact that has often been demonstrated in Zurich. Here she will make her debut as Wagner's Isolde in June, and her eagerly awaited debut as Brünnhilde in the new Zurich Ring will follow soon. Before that, however, Camilla Nylund can be heard in a song recital: Richard Strauss is of course a must (including Heimliche Aufforderung, Ruhe meine Seele, Morgen and Cäcilie), as is Gustav Mahler (including Wo die schönen Trompeten blasen, Das irdische Leben and Urlicht). In addition, works by Nylund's Finnish compatriot Jean Silbelius will be heard, as well as the Sieben frühe Lieder (Seven Early Songs) by the young Alban Berg, which, as a small cycle, tell the story of a love, perhaps the composer's love for his later wife Helene. Camilla Nylund will be accompanied on the piano by Joonas Ahonen.
