Abstract
In the meantime, we can already look back on a whole series of productions with students on the studio stage. Each of them was unique and of overwhelming energy and intensity. After #Romeo_Julia, #Sandmann, #Rituals, #Faust and #Giselle, this time we took the story of Peer Gynt as the starting point for this year's youth project. Experienced artists* contribute their know-how to the work with the young people and work with them over several months to create their own performance with dance, acting, voice and music.
Peer Gynt is one who travels through many different worlds in search of his happiness, sometimes with audacity, but also with courage and intelligence. He has trouble distinguishing reality from fiction and only at the end does he understand what true love could mean. The artistic examination of questions about longings, wishful dreams and realities, optimism and a sense of doom, impudence, courage and aimlessness, but also the search for a place in society, for love, friendship and acceptance characterize the process of growing up for young people. In dealing with these issues, students from three classes in Zurich develop their version of the story under professional guidance, in which peer, despite many difficulties, may emerge as the winner in the end.
