Abstract

The Baur au Lac was the scene of two memorable performances during Richard Wagner’s time in Zurich. First, Wagner read the entire text for Der Ring des Nibelungen here; later, he premiered the first act of Die Walküre here with Franz Liszt at the piano, and Wagner himself sang the parts of Hunding and Siegmund. Now, at this historic location, in Le Petit Palais of the Baur au Lac, the Siegfried-Idyll will ring out, alongside the songs set to texts by Mathilde Wesendonck, which were written in Zurich. The concert will be followed by a lunch with culinary delights from the award-winning kitchen.
