Abstract
The principal clarinetist of the Philharmonia Zurich, Robert Pickup, studied at the University of South Africa. For the first brunch/lunch concert of the season, he has invited two friends to Zurich who have been shaping the South African jazz scene for many years: saxophonist McCoy Mrubata and pianist Paul Hanmer. In the Spiegelsaal of the Opera House, the three musicians, who regularly work together as a trio, will perform together with a string quartet formation of the Philharmonia Zurich.
For our series of brunch and lunch concerts, musicians of the Philharmonia Zürich present work trouvailles in various constellations, familiar pieces in unusual arrangements, and aural adventures the likes of which you’ve never heard before. These chamber concerts take place in the relaxed yet intimate atmosphere of the magnificent Opernhaus Spiegelsaal.
