With the children’s opera "Herr der Diebe", the Zurich Opera House opens its new venue in the former Sternen cinema in Zurich-Oerlikon. In this gripping music-theatre adaptation of Cornelia Funke’s bestselling novel, the abandoned cinema becomes the mysterious refuge of a gang of orphans whose enigmatic leader, Scipio, supplies them with stolen goods, until a detective and a dangerous assignment throw their world into turmoil.

In "Klanghotel der Gefühle", a wide range of emotions come together: sorrow, anger, joy and longing check into the rooms of the Zurich Opera House as colourful and eccentric guests. Accompanied by music by George Frideric Handel, children and families embark on an imaginative journey through hidden rooms and corridors, where little dramas, great emotions and a shared happy ending await them.

The newly founded Children’s Opera Orchestra, under the musical direction of Gianandrea Noseda and Ann-Katrin Stöcker, performs excerpts from Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” and Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel”, together with soloists and the Zurich Opera Children’s Choir.

The Children’s Opera Orchestra, featuring around 80 instrumentalists from all 35 music schools of the Canton of Zurich, performs excerpts from Gaetano Donizetti’s "L’elisir d’amore" and dances by Eastern European composers under the direction of Gianandrea Noseda and Ann-Katrin Stöcker, together with soloists from the Zurich Opera House.
