A year later, under the musical direction of Franz Welser-Möst, she gave her internationally acclaimed role debut as Salome there, which earned her the Austrian Music Theatre Award in 2019 as „Best Female Lead Role“. In 2021, she made her debut at the Bayreuth Festival as Senta in „Der fliegende Holländer“. In the 2021/22 season, she debuted in the title role of „Jenůfa“ at the Royal Opera House London and appeared as Tatjana in „Eugen Onegin“ as well as in the title role of „Manon Lescaut“ at the Vienna State Opera. Further engagements took her as Lisa in „Pique Dame“ to La Scala in Milan and Baden-Baden, as Jenůfa to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, as Salome to the Metropolitan Opera New York, and as Rusalka to the Royal Opera House London. In the 2024/25 season, Asmik Grigorian made her debut in the title role of „Rusalka“ at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and the Bavarian State Opera Munich.

Tschaikowski Wettbewerb (Moskau).

Abstract

«As on the opera stage, she is not only a singer in the songs, but also a performer, playing the mourner, the yearning lover or the nature-loving wanderer,» says the Frankfurter Rundschau about Asmik Grigorian's celebrated recital with works by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov. Since her Salome at the 2019 Salzburg Festival and acclaimed debuts in Bayreuth, Vienna, London and Milan, the Lithuanian soprano has become one of the most sought-after and exciting singers of our time. Together with pianist Lukas Geniušas, she can be heard for the first time at Zurich Opera House in March.
