Abstract
The Four Seasons are undoubtedly Antonio Vivaldi's most famous work. Thanks to countless interpretations and recordings, these four Violin Concertos from 1725 enjoy great popularity far beyond the borders of the concert hall. Each concert captures the mood of a season in a captivatingly memorable way - from the cheerful spring awakening to the oppressive summer heat to the joys of autumn hunting in colourful forests and the icy frost of winter, the range of associations extends. The Italian violinist and conductor Riccardo Minasi brings the four concerts to life with the Orchestra La Scintilla and combines them with another seasonal composition written 130 years later: for the Paris performance of his opera Les vêpres siciliennes, Giuseppe Verdi composed ballet music also dedicated to the four seasons. This romantic orchestral work is also performed by the Orchestra La Scintilla using the instruments of that era.
