Poster Exhibition

Exhibition at the Opera House

The Swiss illustrator François Berthoud shaped the visual face of Zurich Opera House under the directorship of Andreas Homoki: he designed 152 posters - each of them tailored to the respective piece, always against a monochrome background and instantly recognisable. An exhibition is now showing all the posters that the star illustrator has created for opera and ballet since 2012. A powerful echo of 13 years of musical theatre - and a visual homage to the Homoki era.

How do you do that, Mr. Bogatu?

«Impossible» doesn’t exist in our vocabulary! And yet, before the big show, there are often tougher technical nuts to crack. Fire and water, snow and sand, ships and carriages – we’ve had it all on stage. Sounds easy? Not quite. In our new mini-series «How do you do it, Mr. Bogatu?», we dive into the tricks and secrets of the theatre workshops and stage technology together with our Technical Director Sebastian Bogatu. Kicking off with Case 1: «The bottomless parquet floor».
