Nachtträume

The Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau studied choreography at the Conservatori Superior de Dansa de València in his hometown Valencia, at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, and at Movement Research in New York. He also holds a master’s degree in theatre theory. In 2005, he founded his own ensemble La Veronal, whose members come from various artistic disciplines including dance, film, photography, and literature. The company’s works have been presented in more than thirty countries and at major festivals, including the Venice Biennale, the Festival d'Avignon, Tanz im August, the Romaeuropa Festival, the SIDance Festival, Danse Danse Montreal, as well as at Sadler's Wells, the Théâtre National de Chaillot, and the Opéra de Lyon. He has also choreographed for companies such as the Compañía Nacional de Danza, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, the Ballet de Lorraine, the Ballet du Rhin, the Carte Blanche, the Royal Danish Ballet, and the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève. At the heart of his artistic work lies an interdisciplinary approach and the pursuit for ways of constantly recombining different working methods. In 2022, he created the piece "Nachtträume" for the Ballet Zurich. Recent projects include "Sleeping Beauty" at the Opéra de Lyon, "Le Sacre du printemps" for Ballet am Rhein, "Sonoma" for La Veronal, "Afanador" for the Ballet Nacional de España, "Notte Morricone" for CCN/Aterballetto, and "Svatbata" for the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève. He is Artist in Residence at the Berlin State Ballet ("Overture", "Wunderkammer"). He was named "Choreographer of the Year" by the magazine "tanz" in 2023 and 2025. At the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, he stages Henry Purcell’s "Dido and Aeneas" in 2026.

Max Glaenzel stammt aus Barcelona. Der Bühnenbildner studierte am Center d'art i Disseny Escola Massana und debütierte 1993 am Theater in Zusammenarbeit mit Estel Cristià. Er arbeitet regelmässig mit Marcos Morau, Silvia Delagneau, Àlex Rigola, Xavier Albertí, Carlota Subirós und Sergi Belbel zusammen. Bühnenbilder entstanden für Inszenierungen am Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, am Teatre Lliure in Barcelona, im Sala Beckett und im Centro Dramático Nacional. Inszenierungen mit Marcos Morau waren Rothko Chapel, Pasionaria, Carmen, Into the Little Hill und Opening Night. Seine Arbeiten führten ihn ans das Teatro Real, zur Göteborg Opera Dance Company, an das Royal Danish Ballet, das Gran Teatre del Liceu, die Schaubühne Berlin, das Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, das Teatro Stabile del Veneto und zum Mercat de les Flors.

Silvia Delagneau stammt aus Salamanca. Sie studierte Bühnenbild am Institut del Teatre in Barcelona und an der École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Seit Jahren arbeitet sie mit dem Choreografen Marcos Morau und seiner Compagnie «La Veronal» zusammen, so in Produktionen wie Rothko Chapel für die Göteborg Opera Dance Company, Pasionaria an den Teatros del Canal in Madrid und beim Grec Festival in Barcelona, Sonoma beim Festival d’Avignon, Opening Night am Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, Carmen beim Royal Danish Ballet und Orfeo ed Euridice am Tanztheater Theater Luzern. 2019 wurde sie in mit dem Premi ciutat de Barcelona für Theater ausgezeichnet. Ihre eigene Inszenierung von El sexe dels fongs hatte 2020 beim Grec Festival de Barcelona Premiere. Ausser mit Marcos Morau arbeitet Silvia Delagneau mit weiteren spanischen Theater- und Opernregisseuren zusammen.

Clara Aguilar lebt als Komponistin und Sounddesignerin in Barcelona. Multistilistisch bewegt sie sich zwischen Ambient-, Pop- und Kammermusik-Arrangements, elektronischer Musik und Techno. Sie hat Musik, Journalismus, Geisteswissenschaften und Gender Studies studiert. Seit 2017 ist sie Teil der Theaterszene von Barcelona und schuf Sounddesigns für mehr als dreissig Projekte. Sie ist Mitglied des VVAA Collective und arbeitete u.a. am Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, am Teatre Lliure, am Mercat de los Flors, der Sala Beckett und der Sala Hiroshima. Sie führte Regie bei L‘Amour Toujours (L‘Auditori) und war als Mitglied des VVAA-Kollektivs Co-Regisseurin von This Real Love (Teatre Lliure) und Arcas 2020 (Teatre Lliure; Teatros del Canal). Für Pool (No Water) erhielt sie die Auszeichnung für das beste Sounddesign (2018). Weitere Projekte als Sounddesignerin und Komponistin waren La partida d‘escacs von Stefan Zweig (Teatre Romea), Moi Dispositif Venus von Adeline Flaun (Tropiques-Atrium du Martinique), GRRRLS!!! Manifestos feministes von Carlota Subirós (CCCB), La Honte von Lisi Estarás (Mercat de les Flors) und Reiseführer von Ferran Dordal (Teatre Lliure). Sie gehörte zum Komponistenteam der Dokumentarserie Crims (Goroka). Weitere Filmprojekte sind in Vorbereitung. 2021 veröffentlicht sie ihr erstes elektronisches Album Mystery is all. Häufig arbeitet sie mit dem DJ und Produzenten John Talabot zusammen.

Martin Gebhardt was lighting designer and Head of Lighting for John Neumeier’s Hamburg Ballet. From 2002 onward he collaborated with Heinz Spoerli and the Ballett Zürich. Ballet productions of both companies took him to renowned theatres across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. At Zurich Opera House he created the lighting design for productions by Jürgen Flimm, David Alden, Jan Philipp Gloger, Grischa Asagaroff, Matthias Hartmann, David Pountney, Moshe Leiser/Patrice Caurier, Damiano Michieletto, and Achim Freyer. At the Salzburg Festival he designed the lighting for "La bohème" and for a new version of Spoerli’s "Der Tod und das Mädchen". Since the 2012/13 season Martin Gebhardt has been Head of Lighting at Zurich Opera House. He maintains a close collaboration with choreographer Christian Spuck (including "Winterreise", "Nussknacker und Mausekönig", "Messa da Requiem", "Anna Karenina", "Woyzeck", "Der Sandmann", "Leonce und Lena", "Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern"). He has also worked as lighting designer for choreographers Edward Clug (including "Strings", "Le Sacre du printemps" and "Faust" in Zurich), Alexei Ratmansky, Wayne McGregor, Marco Goecke, and Douglas Lee. He collaborated with Christoph Marthaler and Anna Viebrock on Handel’s "Sale" and Rossini’s "Il viaggio a Reims" in Zurich as well as on "Lulu" at the Hamburg State Opera, and with Jossi Wieler and Sergio Morabito at the Grand Théâtre de Genève for "Les Huguenots". In 2023 he designed the lighting for Spuck’s ballet "Bovary" at the Staatsballett Berlin and in 2024 for Rossini’s "Tancredi" at the Bregenz Festival. He was also the lighting designer for Cathy Marston’s "Atonement" at Zurich Opera House.

Tieni Burkhalter studied Fine Arts at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), where he specialized in video and video installation. After his works were mainly shown in galleries and at experimental film festivals, he has been working for the stage since 2009. As a video producer, he is closely associated with the Zurich Opera House. His stage work has also taken him to theaters in Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Moscow, Oslo, and Savonlinna. At the Zurich Opera House, he worked with Andreas Homoki ("Der fliegende Holländer", "Das Land des Lächelns", "Das Rheingold", "Siegfried" and "Die Walküre"), Evgeny Titov ("Lessons in Love and Violence" and "L’Orfeo"), Jan Philipp Gloger ("Die Csárdásfürstin" and "Le nozze di Figaro"), Adele Thomas ("Il trovatore"), Rainer Holzapfel ("Die Odyssee"), Nina Russi ("Coraline") and Kai Anne Schuhmacher ("Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer"). For Ballet Zurich, he produced videos for Christian Spuck ("Anna Karenina" and "Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern"), Marcos Morau ("Nachtträume"), Edward Clug ("Faust") and Douglas Lee ("A-Life"). He was also involved at the Savonlinna Opera Festival with Philipp Himmelmann for "Aida", in Berlin with Christian Spuck for "Madame Bovary", and has been collaborating for many years on Dmitri Tcherniakov’s productions: "Pelléas et Mélisande" and "Die Sache Makropulos" at the Zurich Opera House, "Senza Sangue/Herzog Blaubarts Burg", "Elektra" and "Salome" at the Hamburg State Opera, "La Fille de Neige" and "Les Troyens" at the Opéra National de Paris, and "Tristan und Isolde" at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.

Israel Solà stammt aus Barcelona. Er studierte Physik an der Universität Barcelona sowie Regie und Dramaturgie am Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. Nach Abschluss seines Studiums gründete er die Theatergruppe «La Ca­lò­­ri­ca», für die zahlreiche Stücke entstanden sind. Da­zu ge­hö­ren De què parlem mentre no parlem de tota aquesta merda (TNC, 2021), Feísima en­fer­medad y muy triste muerte de la reina Isabel I (Teatre Lliure, 2019), Els Ocells (Sala Beckett, 2018) und Fairfly (Teatre Tantarantana, 2017; Auszeichung mit dem Max Award). 2021 inszenierte er die Opern La Voix humaine von Francis Poulenc und La veu sàu­ria von Mariona Vila im Principal de Palma. Er war Dramaturg bei Paraula roent, einem Stück, das auf dem Werk der Dichterin Antònia Vicens basiert (Palau de la Música, 2022), und bei der zeitgenössischen Tanzshow Bogumer von Vero Cendoya (Mercat de les Flors, 2021). Für die Parking Shakespeare Company in Bar­ce­­lona entstanden Neufassungen von Viel Lärm um nichts und Titus Andronicus. 2022 wurde sein Stück Australia in der Sala Flyhard in Barcelona uraufgeführt. Ausserdem realisierte er ver­schie­de­ne Radio-, Fernseh- und Podcast-Projekte.

Michael Küster is from Germany. After studying German studies, art, and speech science at the University of Halle, he worked as a presenter, author, and speaker at various broadcasting stations in Germany. There, he hosted numerous classical music programs and live broadcasts of major concert events, including those from the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Semperoper Dresden, and the Leipzig Gewandhaus.
Since 2002, he has been a dramaturg at the Zurich Opera House, working with directors such as Matthias Hartmann, David Alden, Robert Carsen, Moshe Leiser/Patrice Caurier, Damiano Michieletto, David Pountney, Johannes Schaaf, and Graham Vick.
As dramaturg of Ballett Zürich, Michael Küster has collaborated since 2012 with Cathy Marston, Marco Goecke, Marcos Morau, Kim Brandstrup, Edward Clug, Alexei Ratmansky, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, and Hans van Manen. Together with Christian Spuck, he worked on productions including «Winterreise» («Prix Benois de la Danse»), «Romeo and Juliet», «Messa da Requiem», and «The Sleeping Beauty».
At La Scala in Milan, Michael Küster was dramaturg for Matthias Hartmann’s opera productions of «Der Freischütz», «Idomeneo», and «The Queen of Spades».
