Tube-Opera «Tales of Hoffmann»

Spring holidays course for 12- to 18-year-olds

E.T.A. Hoffmann was a master of «dark» romanticism, and wrote gloomy, magical-surreal thrillers in which the boundaries between dreams and reality were blurred. His fantastical tales of alchemy experiments, frightening experiences, and passionit, all-consuming, dangerously beguiling romantic entanglements. His stories inspired Jacques Offenbach to compose his last opera. In it, he places a fictitious Hoffmann – who longs in vain for true love – at the center of the plot. Participants in this school holidays program will use these metaphysical tales as inspiration for their own original scenes, and then, under professional guidance, will shoot music videos, using Offenbach’s thrilling, sentimental, or somber music as a soundtrack.
