Recovered, tested or vaccinated – our protective measures

We are so pleased that we will finally be able to perform for you again and we will do everything in our power to make sure you can enjoy your Opernhaus visit free of concern. We have put together a comprehensive public health protection plan, which aligns with FOPH (BAG) regulations in place. Our plan will be continually reassessed and adjusted should those regulations change. Our on-site ushers and audience support staff will help with implementation of the plan, and will be at your service should you have questions.

In order to help protect yourself and others, we kindly ask you to observe the following during your visit to the Opernhaus. Thank you in advance for your support.

Community health is our first priority

If you feel sick, you are not allowed to visit our performances. In such an event, please contact the Billettkasse. When you arrive at the Opernhaus, please wash or disinfect your hands; disinfection dispensers are clearly positioned throughout the front of the house. You will be able to access your seat without coming into contact with any door handles. All surfaces, restroom facilities, and cloakrooms are cleaned regularly. We kindly request you follow all social distancing regulations and public health measures, especially those related to coughing or sneezing into the crook of your arm. We recommend you use the SwissCovid App.

Recovered, tested or vaccinated

At the Zurich Opera House, from September onwards not only tickets but also the Covid certificate as well as a personal identity card will be checked at the entrance. Visitors over 16 years of age must be vaccinated, have recovered from a Covid disease or be able to present a current test (PCR or antigen rapid tests). This means that we are implementing the current political requirement for large events with a capacity of more than 1000 seats. The vaccination booklet is not a substitute for the certificate.

Entrance

The Opernhaus opens its doors 60 minutes before the start of each performance. Please have your Covid certificate, ID card and ticket ready to avoid possible delays. Due to the current situation, we ask you to arrive early, especially when attending the introduction to the works.

Mask Usage

Guests must wear a mask during their visit at Opernhaus until further notice. This is intended to further increase protection against infection and to take account of the public's need for safety. Masks are required in the entire building. Please put on your mask before you enter the Opernhaus and wear it during the performance and intermissions. You may remove your mask once you have left the theater. Masks should cover your nose and mouth, and are mandatory for visitors over 12 years of age. In the future, however, there will be no distance in the auditorium.

Gastronomy

Starting with the new season, there will again be intermission catering, but only in the Spiegelsaal, in the foyer bar, in the Bernhard Bar Cafe, and when the weather allows, on the terrace in front of the Bernadette Restaurant. The gastronomies in the entrance foyer and on the 2nd floor will remain closed for the time being. There is no mask obligation during consumption.

Ventilation in the Auditorium

The Opernhaus Zürich is equipped with a state-of-the-art ventilation system. It is in line with the newest standards in ventilation engineering and is not a recirculation system, but is operated exclusively with fresh air. Openings in the floor of the Parkett level allow for fresh air to be blown into the hall, and older air is extracted from the ceiling of the hall and routed directly out of the building. In this way, we can ensure a very strong dilution of any aerosols present in the air, comparable to the dilution of particles outside of buildings. In addition, the filters in the ventilation system are regularly serviced and disinfected.

A New Experience

Your visit to the Opernhaus during the COVID pandemic is a new experience, and we kindly request that you support us in implementing these recommendations and regulations. The measures described here are subject to change, depending on FOPH (BAG) recommendations. We will inform you of any changes via email and on our website. And we can’t wait to welcome you back to the Opernhaus.
